Head Coach of Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi has carpeted those canvassing employment of a foreign coach for the Eagles, calling them enemies of the growth of the game in the country.
He asked “Why would anybody want to bring a foreign coach, why, why? We can as well bring in foreigners to play for Nigeria
“It will mean that any time you contract an European coach, we should also invite European players to come and play for us”
He said that there are capable Nigerians apart from him who can handle the Super Eagles more effectively than the so called expatriate coaches from Europe or Americas noting that hiring a coach from outside this nation now is a sheer waste of resources.
Keshi who is one of the only two coaches to win the Africa Cup of Nations as a player and a coach (the other is Shahata of Egypt) said that no European country will allow their best coach to go to Africa, so why go for second or third best?
“After I have gone, another Nigerian should be hired to continue from where I stopped. We will support that person to succeed but I will not support a European to handle our team again because African coaches can do better” Keshi said.
