As Nigerians go to poll to elect their President and National Assembly members today, accreditation has commenced in most polling units nationwide and will last till 1.00 pm.
As soon as the exercise started, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, was accredited in Daura, his hometown in Katsina State.
However, accreditation started about one hour, twenty minutes behind schedule (09.20 hrs) in Otuoke, President Goodluck Jonathan’s hometown in Bayelsa State.
Unlike Buhari who was promptly authenticated by the card reader, it took President Jonathan more than 20 minutes for the card reader to authenticate the President’s Permanent Voter Card, PVC.
The President, his wife Patience and mother, Eunice, were accredited at Unit 39 (Othazi Playground) Ward 13 Otabla, Otuoke in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
As at the time of filling this report, President Jonathan and his family members are yet to be accredited about 30 minutes after their arrival at the polling unit.
