Amaechi's meeting with lawyers to open courts in the Rivers state ends in deadlock

Lawyers in Portharcourt Rivers state are apparent not with the state of limbo the judiciary is in the state.To this end, the men of the bar held a meeting with the state governor Chibuike Amaechi on how to find a solution to the crisi plagueing the courts.

Spokesperson of the Nigeria Bar Association Port Harcourt Branch, Angus Chukwuka says Governor Amaechi only made a suggestion to lawyers in Riversstate during his meeting with them on November 6 to resolve the judiciary crisis in the state which has led to the closure of courts.

Chukwuka in an interview said the meeting ended in a stalemate as no resolution was reached as claimed.

The Spokesperson of the Nigeria Bar Association Port Harcourt Branch also
said the NBA is yet to consider the Governor’s suggestion.

He however reiterated that lawyers are only interested in the reopening of
courts as its continued closure has brought untold suffering on the
lawyers in the state.
