nigerian armyNigerian troops have retaken Chibok, a town in Damboa, Borno State, from the Islamic terrorists group, Boko Haram, who overran it last Thursday.
Sani Usman, a Colonel And Deputy Director Army Public Relations, said in a statement that troops of 7 Division Nigerian Army, on Friday, recaptured the town, where over 200 girls were abducted on 14 April, and chased the insurgents away. Usman explained that “the military is still carrying out mopping up operations in the surrounding environment”, while assuring that “Chibok town is now fully secured”.
This followed an last Thursday’s victory won by the Nigerian Military, local hunters and vigilantes who equally retook another captured town, Mubi, from the insurgents. Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau recently scoffed at efforts to free the girls, while he gleefully announced in a recorded video released to French news agency that he had married them off.
