President Goodluck Jonathan has lauded the military for their professionalism and bravery displayed so far in battling insurgency saying “Never again shall Nigerian territory be occupied by insurgents’’
Jonathan who made this known via his Facebook page on Wednesday reiterated that he would not rest on his oars until peace returned to the troubled North eastern region of the country.
Jonathan wrote “I am daily updated about the war on terror and the progress being consistently made by the Nigerian Military.
“Let me say that I am proud of the valour displayed by the Officers and men of our Security Services.
“As the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, I commend our Military for their gallantry in confronting and rolling back terrorists and enemies of Nigeria.
“This is only the beginning. Just as I assured our troops when I visited them at the front and all Nigerians during my last Presidential Media Chat, we will not relent until every inch of Nigerian territory is retaken and the insurgency is defeated.’’
The President added, “Never again shall Nigerian territory be occupied by terrorists!
“We remain grateful to our troops and we will continue to support them by ensuring they have the best training and equipment as well as enhanced conditions of service.
“God bless Nigeria”.
“God bless Nigeria”.
It can be recalled that the Nigerian military on Tuesday recaptured Bama, a Borno town that was captured by the Boko Haram insurgents in September last year.
With Tuesday’s retrieval of Bama, a boost has been given to the ongoing war on the insurgents.
Bama, a historic Kanuri town, is the second largest town in Borno after Maiduguri.
It was learnt that the battle to uproot the insurgents from the town was led by the General Officer Commanding, GOC, the 7th division, General Lamidi Adeosun.
The GOC, an infantry general, took his team to the town on Monday and had recorded victory by Tuesday.
