Akwa Ibom people have promised to deliver about 1.5 million votes to President Goodluck Jonathan during the March 28 presidential election.
Governor Godswill Akpabio spoke over the weekend at the Women for Change Development Initiative PDP Transformation rally at Uyo Township Stadium.
He expressed confidence that Akwa Ibom was for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ergo there is no need for the President to campaign in the State.
“We are only here to rejoice because our women and the entire people of the state are for PDP. I assure you that we will not give President Jonathan less than 1.5 million votes in the upcoming election.
“Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria love you. So, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock. Already, all the PDP States have been delivered and we believe more states will be delivered for PDP.
“So, on March 28, this country will move forward for PDP without corruption,” he said.
Akpabio enjoined the women to vote for President Jonathan and PDP candidates in the upcoming elections.
He expressed gratitude to Dame Patience Jonathan for her good work in sensitizing Nigerian women, while noting that women are blessings to many Nigerian families.
Mrs. Jonathan, who also spoke at the rally, thanked the State Governor for making PDP proud by transforming the state through massive development projects.
She applauded his efforts at carrying women along in his administration, while commending the wife of the State Governor, Unoma Akpabio for supporting her husband.
The First Lady called on women in the State and Nigeria to vote for President Jonathan and PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections, as they had promised more affirmative action for women once re-elected.
