A group, El-Rufai Support Group (ESG) has enjoined the people of Kaduna State to join hands with Nasir El-Rufai, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to set the state irreversibly on the path to progress and sustainable development.
Addressing press conference at the weekend, the Coordinator of the group, Uba Sani, the after extensive consultations, the group found El-Rufai “worthy being supported to lead the charge for rescuing Kaduna State from the depths of despair and hopelessness.
The group frowned at the current state of affairs in Kaduna, saying the State is being governed by “visionless, inept and corrupt leadership”.
“This state of affair is unacceptable. We cannot fold our arms while our beloved state continues to drift. It is time for all men and women of goodwill to come together and join hands to rescue our state from the grip of political jobbers,” he said.
Uba therefore, called on the people to work assiduously to enthrone a fearless, credible and development oriented leadership, adding “It is a task we must carry out or history would be very unkind to us.
“To compound the problems of the State, the government has displayed total incompetence in managing or resolving ethno – religious conflicts,” he said.
Sani, described the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, as “Fearless, urbane, intelligent, articulate and imbued with a never – say – die spirit, Mallam El – Rufai comes to the governorship race with his experience as a technocrat, development specialist, astute politician, and accomplished administrator.
“He distinguished himself as a manager of persons and resources while at the helm of affairs at the Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory and Bureau of Public Enterprises.
“Beneath Mallam El – Rufai’s steely posture is a humble and approachable person who is merely impatient with persons who fail to follow due process and are eager to benefit from the system instead of rendering selfless service.
“He holds aloft the banner of generational change, not just for change sake, but for purposeful and result – oriented leadership. Mallam El – Rufai is a leader imbued with the democratic spirit and committed to working with like – minds to usher in fundamental changes in Kaduna State”.
Speaking about the group, ESG, the Coordinator said, it “is an idea, a platform and vehicle for an aggressive campaign to reawaken the consciousness of Kaduna State citizens to return the State to its glory days”Its major task is to project Mallam El – Rufai as the arrowhead of the movement to change the face of Kaduna State. El – Rufai Support Group would vigorously advocate for the governorship candidacy of Mallam El-Rufai and also develop strategies and tactics to ensure that the votes given to him in the governorship elections count.
“El – Rufai Support Group draws its membership from concerned citizens of Kaduna State disenchanted with the state of governance in our dear state”.
On the security situation in the country, Sani said “The Federal Government has no coherent strategy to end the Boko Haram menace.
“It is either a case of incompetence or a deliberate ploy to undermine the North and conquer it politically.
“This is the time for Northern elders and youths to come together to fashion a strategy/framework to checkmate these forces of darkness and retrogression. The time to stand up is NOW”.
