APC Accuses Lawmaker, INEC of Conducting Illegal Voters Registration

The Nasarawa Chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has alleged conspiracy between the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and a member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Philip Gyunka of conducting a premature voters registration in the state.
Philip Shekwo, state chairman, APC, made the allegation at a press conference in Lafia, Tuesday.
According to Philip, “On Thursday September 25, it was uncovered that the enemies of our democracy have embarked on illegal continuous voters registration in the state using some INEC staff and equipment”.
He added that the illegal voters registration took place at Angwan Waya village of Gudi electoral ward in Akwanga Local Government of the state.
The chairman explained that the party immediately intimated the police of the incident and the leader of the group Daniel Wasika was arrested while others escaped in a Peugeot 504 salon car with registration number DY54ABC.
He elucidated that the action could be linked to Hon. Philip Gyunka (PDP) member representing Akwanga West at the state House of Assembly saying he was sighted at the Akwanga Police station when he drove the DPO in his car to his house.
Reacting to the incident, the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the state Ahmed Makama debunked the allegation saying the machines, staff and premises are not for the commission.
As at press time, all efforts to reach the lawmaker proved abortive.
