The office of UK Prime Minister David Cameron says the UK's assessment is that "without compelling information to the contrary, it is increasingly likely that MH17 was shot down by a separatist missile". Six investigators from the UK Air Accident Investigation Branch will arrive in Kiev on Saturday to assist the investigation into the disaster.
The European Aviation Safety Agency has issued a safety information bulletin to national aviation authorities. They "strongly recommend airspace users... avoid the restricted areas affecting the Simferopol (UKFV) and Dnepropetrovsk (UKDV) FIR [flight information region] and circumnavigate using available alternative routings."
US lawmakers are considering introducing new legislation calling for additional sanctions on Russia in the wake of the shooting down of the plane, Senator Chris Murphy tells Reuters news agency.
