Guber Poll: Let Jega or Ban–ki Moon re-conduct the election, I will still win – Wike

Nyesom Wike
The Governor-elect of Rivers State, Barr Nyesom Wike, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on the out-going Governor of the State Rotimi Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress, APC, to concede defeat.
Wike also boasted that if the governorship election were to be conducted again by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega or even by Ban-ki Moon, the United Nations Secretary General, he would still win by a landslide.
Wike stated this on Wednesday during “Focus Nigeria” on African Independent Television, AIT, saying the Rivers people were tired of the Amaechi-led APC government in the State.
He explained that the people did the needful last Saturday by coming out en masse and using their votes to end the tyranny of the APC in Rivers State.
“The good people of Rivers State are tired of the All Progressives Congress in the state due to their anti-people polices.
“I am telling you, even if Jega comes from Abuja to conduct the election, or Banki-moon from the United Nations, it could have been hard for APC to win the election in Rivers State,” he said.
Rotimi Amaechi had on Saturday said that the gubernatorial election in Rivers State was a sham and called for the cancellation of the entire exercise.
However, Wike disclosed that although there were minor skirmishes, the election was free and fair.
According to him; “after the presidential elections, it was clear that the APC would lose the governorship seat, because of the anger the Rivers people had that they had lost the presidential elections.
“This is because President Jonathan has spent a greater part of his life in Rivers State and he also married form Rivers state. He is attached to Rivers state.
“So it is natural that the people will not be happy that their son lost the election.”
