
The meeting, held behind closed doors, took place at the residence of the President in the State House, Abuja.
While none of them spoke with journalists at the end of the meeting, it was gathered from reliable sources that discussions were not unconnected with preparations for the rescheduled general elections and how to keep the country safe and secure after the polls.
Abubakar, who is also the chairman of the National Peace Committee for 2015 General Elections, had yesterday met with the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, over preparations for the elections which are scheduled to hold on March 28th and April 11th.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh; the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Sa’ad Abubakar III; Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan ; Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah; former Chief of General Staff, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe; Special Adviser to the President on Inter- Party Relations, Senator Ben Obi and leaders of some political parties were also at the meeting.
A source close to the meeting told our Correspondent that Abubakar briefed the attendees on the details of his discussion with Jega.
