General Buhari, who expressed happiness at the support, noted that he is not surprised as the nation in general is tired of mediocrity and religious propaganda as being perpetuated by the ruling party
Reports suggests that over five hundred pastors have declared their support forAll Progressives Congress‘ (APC) presidential aspirant, Muhammadu Buhari, ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Led by a pastor, Abu Amiji, the five hundred pastors under the aegis ofNorthern Christian Leaders openly declared their unfailing support for Buhari, noting that time has come for Nigeria to think of the future and hence the need to forgo temporal benefits.
Pastor Amiji argued that the forum is throwing its support behind Buhari because of the enormous decay in the system which have been witnessed under the present government led byPresident Goodluck Jonathan.
He also tasked Buhari to ensure that the country is returned to its glorious standing in the world before corruption and religious discrimination threaten to destroy it.
Reacting to the pledge, General Buhari, who expressed happiness at the support, noted that he is not surprised as the nation in general is tired of mediocrity and religious propaganda as being perpetuated by the ruling party.
He further stated that dividing Nigeria along religious line is no longer acceptable.
Buhari who was presented a bible at the forum told newsmen, "This is not the first time I am accepting Holy Bible publicly; this is not the first time. It is not even the second or third time. All these problems people are making because of religion are just of recent time and dimension. We, both Christians and Muslims, have been leading this country and there was no religious problem.
“It is just now that somebody is creating these problems for us. I hope God will look after it. I told you this is not the second or third time I will be accepting Bible. This one (acceptance) is special because of the leadership of the church that made the presentation, that is the only difference. Otherwise, I do receive Bibles, they are in my libraries.”
